Klára Horková is a student at the University of Economics in Prague, where she studies Economic Policy and has chosen Project Management as her minor specialization. She is currently doing an internship at the Institute of Computer Science of the CAS, where she supports the project department. In an interview, she shared her experiences and impressions from the internship.
What were your main responsibilities during the internship?
The main focus of my internship was administrative support for the project department. For example, I entered weekends, vacations, and business trips into timesheets. Currently, I am also helping with archiving older documents.
Is this your first internship, or have you done others before? And how satisfied are you with your choice?
I’ve had internships before, but never in the field of project management. I specifically looked for this one because of my minor specialization at university. I’m very happy with my choice. The team here is great, which makes a big difference.
What motivated you to apply for this internship?
I mainly wanted to gain practical experience in project management. I also wanted to try working in this field to see if I would actually enjoy it and whether I’d want to develop in it further. Everything I’ve tried so far has met my expectations for the internship I applied for.
Did you have any concerns before starting the internship?
Yes, I was nervous—probably like anyone starting a new job. I didn’t know exactly what to expect and was worried I might get a task I wouldn’t know how to handle. Fortunately, that wasn’t the case. Everything went smoothly, and most importantly, everyone here is really kind, helpful, and always ready to assist when needed.
Was there anything about the internship or the team that surprised you?
I was probably most surprised by how relaxed and friendly everyone is. There’s no one I’ve had any issues with or who made things difficult for me. Everyone is open and willing to help. I can reach out to them whenever I need something, and I’ve never felt alone.
Would you recommend internships to other students?
Absolutely, I would recommend doing internships. Centrum Radius offers a wide range of fields, so everyone can find something that interests them. It’s a great way to gain experience and insight, which helps you make better decisions about the direction you want to take in the future.
