At the Laboratory of Functional Biointerfaces at the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, we focus on developing a new generation of affinity biosensors capable of reliably analyzing complex biological samples directly in the field.
We combine optical and piezoelectric detection systems with the latest approaches in microfluidics and additive manufacturing to create smart, portable, and highly sensitive solutions for real-world applications.
What will you do?
- Work with modern analytical methods such as Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) and Quartz Crystal Microbalance (QCM).
- Take part in designing, developing, and fabricating microfluidic platforms — from concept to final device.
- Test biosensors for various applications, including healthcare, public safety, and the food industry.
- Get involved in active research projects within an international team and contribute to real results.
Who are we looking for?
- Students of natural or technical sciences — ideally biochemistry, biophysics, nanotechnology, biomedical engineering, or physics.
- Curious and motivated individuals who enjoy technology, experiments, and scientific challenges.
- Previous lab experience is welcome but not required — what matters most is enthusiasm and a willingness to learn and explore.
What do we offer?
- A chance to take part in cutting-edge research in biosensors and microfluidics.
- Hands-on experience with modern instruments and analytical techniques.
- Individual mentoring, a friendly atmosphere, and collaboration with experts across disciplines.
- An opportunity to combine physics, chemistry, biology, and engineering into one meaningful experience.
