Laser nanostructuring for medical applications

HiLASE Centre, part of the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, is a leader in applied laser research, contributing to a sustainable future, the development of both the Czech and European economies, and inspiring a new generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators. This internship offers students the opportunity to participate in cutting-edge laser technology research focused on creating structures with biofunctional properties. Using state-of-the-art laser beam shaping and multi-pulse processing methods, surfaces with potential antibacterial or antimicrobial effects and support for cell growth will be developed.

What will you do during the internship?
  • Participate in active research projects focused on micro- and nanostructures with biofunctional properties
  • Work with advanced techniques for multi-pulse processing and laser beam shaping
  • Create and test surfaces with antibacterial or antimicrobial effects
  • Conduct literature reviews and participate in laboratory experiments
  • Operate diagnostic equipment
Our expectations:
  • Interest in laser technologies, materials engineering, or biotechnology
  • Basic knowledge of physics, optics, or related fields
  • English language proficiency
  • Previous lab experience is an advantage, but not a requirement
What do we offer?
  • Flexible working hours adapted to your class schedule
  • Hands-on experience with laser technologies and advanced analytics
  • Expert guidance and support from experienced researchers
  • Access to modern equipment and research facilities
  • Opportunity to work in an inspiring international research environment
