Intern for Advanced Glass Processing and Functional Surface Modification

This internship offers students a unique opportunity to explore research in advanced optical methods and laser processes used in the fabrication of micro- and nanostructures with unique functional properties. The HiLASE Centre, part of the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, has a long-standing focus on developing laser technologies. This internship opens you the doors to a top-tier research environment pushing the boundaries of photonics and contributing to a sustainable future.

What will you do during the internship?
  • Participate in research projects focused on laser micromachining and surface microstructuring
  • Work with advanced optical systems (diffraction, interference, microscopy)
  • Conduct laboratory experiments involving micro-drilling and glass cutting
  • Develop and test micro- and nanostructures with functional properties (e.g., anti-reflective, superhydrophobic)
  • Perform surface analysis using optical microscopy, SEM, and AFM
  • Carry out literature reviews and evaluate experimental data
Our expectations:
  • Interest in laser technologies, optics, or materials engineering
  • Willingness to learn and actively contribute to team research
  • Basic understanding of physics, optics, or related fields
  • Previous lab experience is an advantage but not required
What do we offer?
  • Flexible working hours adapted to your class schedule
  • Hands-on experience with advanced laser technologies
  • Expert guidance and mentoring from experienced researchers
  • Access to a modern laboratory and a friendly team of colleagues

Join us and step into the fascinating world of lasers!
