This internship offers students a unique opportunity to explore research in advanced optical methods and laser processes used in the fabrication of micro- and nanostructures with unique functional properties. The HiLASE Centre, part of the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, has a long-standing focus on developing laser technologies. This internship opens you the doors to a top-tier research environment pushing the boundaries of photonics and contributing to a sustainable future.
What will you do during the internship?
- Participate in research projects focused on laser micromachining and surface microstructuring
- Work with advanced optical systems (diffraction, interference, microscopy)
- Conduct laboratory experiments involving micro-drilling and glass cutting
- Develop and test micro- and nanostructures with functional properties (e.g., anti-reflective, superhydrophobic)
- Perform surface analysis using optical microscopy, SEM, and AFM
- Carry out literature reviews and evaluate experimental data
Our expectations:
- Interest in laser technologies, optics, or materials engineering
- Willingness to learn and actively contribute to team research
- Basic understanding of physics, optics, or related fields
- Previous lab experience is an advantage but not required
What do we offer?
